Joined company, in the Army of the Potomac. Engaged at the battle of Gaines' Mill. Severely wounded and taken prisoner by the rebels. Exchanged, and on mustering duty. Wounded twice during the war. Captain 17th U. S. Infantry, November, 1863. Brevet Captain U. S. Army, for gallant and meritorious services at the battle of Gaines' Mill, Virginia. Brevet Major, U. S. Army, for gallant and meritorious services at the battle of Gettysburg, Pa. Brevet Lieutenant Colonel U. S. Army, for gallant and meritorious services.
