Frank Cornelius Long, clergyman, teacher; born at New Orleans, La., Mar. 2, 1860; son of Alexander Dumas and Anna Mae (Hawkins) Long; public school edn., New Orleans; A.B., and first male grad. Leland Univ., 1881, A.M., later; post-grad, courses Univ. of Mich. and Kan. State Normal School; B.D., Union Theological Seminary, Morgan Park, Ill., 1884; grad. Stenographic Inst., Chicago, 1900; married Sarah E. Mumford, of Victoria, Texas, June, 1881; 4 children: Octavia Cornelia, Ethel Elizabeth, Clarence Marcellus, Robert Elliott. Was first colored teacher in Bishop College, Marshall, Texas, serving as instructor of mathematics, 1881-2; principal Langston High School, Hot Springs, Ark., since 1907; this is a first-class Colored High School; its course covers 4 years each in Latin, English, science, history, mathematics; graduates have easily found entrance into freshmen classes of leading American colleges.
