TARRANT COUNTY.

The late meeting of the Colored Teachers' (State) Association, held in Fort Worth, was a success in every particular. The officers presided with becoming dignity and the rulings of the president betokened familiarity with parliamentary practice.

Many interesting and instructive papers were read, and discussion followed discussion in lively procession. The speakers seemed brimful of their subject. When the teachers separated there was a better interest and a higher degree of enthusiasm for the work of teaching than ever known among the colored teachers.

Prof. I. M. Terrell of Fort Worth, was elected president for the ensuing year.

It is now thought that the next meeting of this Association will be held in the city of Chicago, in June, 1893.

This will be a grand undertaking for our teachers, yet it is easily within the domain of probability. By this means the colored teachers of Texas will have an opportunity of showing to the world what they are doing in the way of education.

Looking forward to this enterprise, we earnestly hope that all interested in the matter of going, will begin preparation by laying aside a certain amount of money every month, sufficient to pay the necessary expenses of the trip. By that time the World's Columbian Exposition will be in full blast, and the railroads doubtless will vie with one another in giving reduced rates. T. S. A.
