President of Texas State Colored Teachers Association

Prof F W Gross, the president of the Texas State Colored Teachers association, was born in Marshall, Texas and was educated at Wiley university, Fisk university, Nashville, Tenn, and Bishop college.  He graduated with the degree of A B from Bishop college In 1883. He has been secretary of nearly every organization of which he has been a member. He Is now grand secretary of the I B F and National grand secretary. He Is also president of the Baptist missionary and educational convention of Texas. For twelve years he has been principal of Brown school, Victoria, Texas. He has given much attention to social and political science and is now and has been for six  years a member of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. He has taught school since 1875 sent out many teachers to help elevate the race.

 The following persons have been presidents of the Teachers association serving In the order named viz Messrs L C Anderson, F H Mabson, J R Gipson, D Abner Jr., I M Terrell, G W Jackson, A J Moore, M H Broyles, J W Tlldon, J R H Lee, and N W Harllee. Mr Kealing has the distinguished honor of serving two terms
