J. S. Tibbitt
The "Texas Freeman" was launched at Houston with J. S. Tibbitt as Editor; Emmett J. Scott, Associate Editor, and Charles N. Love as Business Manager. Later Mr. Scott and Mr. Love acquired Mr. Tibbitt's interest and for three years "The Freeman," under their management, was the most powerful and influential organ of the colored people of Texas. Mr. Love continues the publication.
