 The First 50 Years

 

 

In 1876 he won election to the Fifteenth Legislature as a representative from Waller County. In the legislature he sponsored the bill providing for Prairie View Normal College (now Prairie View A&M University). In 1876 and 1880 he was chosen as a delegate to the Republican national convention.
